We were going to be coming from Fussen to Innsbruck; we were wondering what the best way is to accomplish this? Also we were thinking of spending 2 days in Innsbruck then 2 days in Salzburg, and one day in Vienna. We would have a rental car in Fussen and get another rental car in Innsbruck. I saw a post about going from Fussen to Vils then getting a train but that was for going to Salzburg is that the best way for us? Is it better to spend 1 day in Innsbruck and 3 days in Salzburg; any suggestions here?
I was going to post in Germany forum also; we will have 14 days and want to spend 1 day at Oktoberfest; we’re wondering if it is better to stay an extra day at Fussen and take a train to the O’fest instead of trying to find a room in Munich. We welcome any and all comments. I apologize if this has been covered before but I can’t find all the information I need by searching posts.

Fastest way [1h 24m] to go from Füssen to Innsbruck would be by car. Part of the route is via the A12 autobahn so the car would have to have an Austria Autobahn Vignette on the windshield. Driving directions are at - viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/dyn/controll…
If your plan is to leave 1 car in Germany and get another car in Innsbruck, you could drop a car off in Garmisch and then take the direct train to Innsbruck. You might wish to consider driving from Füssen to Garmisch, dropping the car off and spending a night there. There are direct trains from Garmisch to Munich and it would be easier to take a day trip to the Oktoberfest from Garmisch rather than from Füssen.
