Transportation from Prague to Passau

I am taking my 80 yr old mother and Aunt in Aug. to Prague and then catching a river cruise on the Danube. I can line up transfer with the cruise company or line my own transportation from Prague to Passau and back again when the cruise is over, as we fly from Prague. Can someone help me with suggestions for the best way to go between these 2 cities with the least effort. Thank you Linda Sarine

It is an awkward train journey as there is no direct route - all the options involve 3 changes and take 6 hours plus, mostly on local trains.

Look at www.bahn.de for times and fares, at least starting from Passau.

If the cruise transfer isn%26#39;t too expensive that might be the best option. The landing stages at Passau are a 5 minute taxi ride from the station.
