Congratulatons! A nice wedding trip!

Vienna is a city of music and I would recommend a concert or operetta.

One place for good information

www,wien.info.at. site of the Vienna Tourist agency.

click on english then to events

under events data base insert the dates of your visit for all happenings during that time.

A visit to the Musikverein for a concert by the Philharmoniker is a nice event. a fantastic venue and one of the best orchestras of the world.

www,musikverein.at

for Opera or Operetta

www.staatsoper.at

www.volksoper.at

If in Vienna on a Sunday

check concerts at the Liechtenstein Palace- combine it with a visit to the Palace and its wondeful collection of art

Info on event calendar or

www.liechtenstein.at

With so much to do in the city , I would not recommend a day trip.

Visits or Must sees

Hofburg Palace and Imperial Apartments

in this complex also see the Treasury ( schatzkammer ) and Library

Kunsthistorisches Museum ( Fine Arts Museum)

www.khm.at

Schönbrunn Palace

Museum Quarter - numerous meseums, cafes and more.

Numerous Churches each with their own character are very intersting too.

on the tourist web site mentioned above - much information about sights.

You are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for all your suggestions! Any chance you%26#39;re familiar with Hotel Am Augarten, K+K Maria Theresia or K+K Palais. We%26#39;re trying to decide which one and I%26#39;ve looked it up here, but would love your opinion.

I woud never recommend the am Augarten - the hotel is not in the best neighborhood. You must take public transport everywhere. It is not a good bargain hotel in my opinion.

No good restaurants or shopping nearby. The other hotels you mention are much better

The Theresia and Palais are OK.

The Palais very near to the airport transfer bus stop Schwedenplatz/ Morzinplatz. A small park is across the street. Numerous restaurants within walking distance. you can walk to many tourist sites in 10- 15 minutes or take public transport also found nearby.

The Theresia near to numerous museums and the Hofburg Palace althiough not in the First District .

Both hotels are similar.

I would give a slight edge to the Theresia.

Read reviews here on Trip Advisor , if you have not done that already.
