For anyone who has stayed here, are the %26quot;festival wing rooms%26quot; with the %26quot;best views%26quot; across the street in the annex? I%26#39;m having a little uncertainty with whether these are the remodeled, new, spacious rooms or the larger rooms (yet still quaint) in the original part of the hotel. We prefer the B%26amp;B charm with antiques versus the modern hotel room, even if it means taking a small room and low ceiling, that I%26#39;ve read about in previous reviews. Thanks in advance.

I would love to have an answer to this question, too. We are going to Salzburg this summer and I would like to stay at the Goldener Hirsch. I stayed there 20 years ago and it was delightful. Now I am not so sure. The reviews are conflicting, with many being negative. I am not sure if I should take a chance. Thanks.

Hi l2t,
Have not stayed at Goldener but have done extensive research and also emailed the hotel.I can tell you that n/smoking and bathrooms with free standing showers are available in the festival wing. After reading all reports we decided to stay at Schloss Fuscl. If you are interested email them and they will send you and extensive brochure.
I can offer you a real tip on booking. Starwood offers packages of 2%26#39;3%26#39;4%26#39;5%26#39;6 nights but the deal is really hard to find on the website.I have it bookmarked from last year but central reservations are aware of the deals.. They come under Z2H, Z3H etc and offer heaps off...
eg. if you arrive on a thurs fri or sat for three nights you can get 33/13% off the regular NOT rack rates. For instance the Goldener is available 30/06 for 3 nights at 251 euro times 3 then take off one third.. ie about 170 euro per night.
These deals apply to many Starwood properties around the world and will save you heaps.. Regards David.
