vertical aviano pertchy zur wiener staatsoper which one

Hi Vertical

I have read lots of your posts and your knowledge is very much appreciated.

Going to Vienna mid march for 3 days. Such a large selction of hotels recommended on this site.

As we are middle - age first time visitors we are thinking of staying in area 1010 as suggested.

Don%26#39;t intend to be in hotel very much but would like one that is comfortable and in a quiet location close to good restaurants and bars

Would like to be within 15-20 mins walking distance of main sites.

Considering Pension Aviano, Nossek, Pertschy. Hotel zur Wiener Staatsoper or K%26amp;K Palais. Different price ranges but more concerned about location.

I would really appreciate your advice. Is there another one you would recommend around 150 euros per night?

Many Thanks

Cathy

Hello casa40!

Thank you for the kind words.

Your question is hard to answer as many like different things in hotels.

Most all get good reviews as you probably know already.

I believe that you would be happy and comfortable with each hotel on your list - but I give my biased opinion.

I would reject the Palais as it is not as convenient to sightseeing as the others.

Probably best located to major sights

1. Pertschy

2. Nossek

3. Aviano

4. Staatsoper

But all are just an easy short walk away from most things, including a large choice of restaurants and shopping as well.

If you plan on nights at the Opera or concerts , the Staatsoper is best located. It is also near to the Ringstrasse to find the streetcars#1 and #2

Some rooms in the front of the Nossek can receive noises from the street early in the morning( trash and delivery trucks ) They say rear rooms are OK.

Pertschy seems to be a favorite of many on this site. Some say front rooms to the stree are noisy .

I have friends who always stay there and they enjoy it, but said it was noisy the last time due to some late night returnees.I But this just a one time thing. It seems to need a little renovation to me.

I think the Staatsoper offers a nice feeling of Vienna , and would be my choice ( read the reviews again to see if you may like it)

An alternative is the Konig von Ungarn- perhaps more costly but very nice and well located near Stephansdom.

I hope that the above helps a little - more questions just post here again.

Enjoy Vienna.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I have contacted Hotel zur Wiener Staatsoper and they have a room available for our dates at 113 euros per night.

It is great to get local advice.

I am really looking forward to visiting Vienna.

Thanks again
