Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg, help! please.

I am planning a trip to Central Europe for September. Originally, we were going to go to prague, budapest, and vienna. We were planning on not renting a car and travelling from city to city either by rail or by hiring a car and driver to take us, or some combination of the two. After thinking about it and discussing it with some friends, I realized that it might be nice to break up our trip and not have only cities, but also get to see some mountains and scenary. I want this vacation to be relaxing and although I have a good time running around looking at stuff in cities, it%26#39;s not always the most relaxing time. So, I thought maybe we could go to Salzburg too. After talking to somebody who has been to Europe numerous times (and actually was born and raised there), they thought that 4 cities over a 14 day period after you factor in the travel time was too much. I tend to agree, so my question would be, which place do I cut out? how do I decide. Please help!!

I have been to Salzburg, Vienna and Prague. If you concentrate on the main sites only, Salzburg can be done in one day. Vienna and Prague can be seen in a minimum of two days each.

I think 4 cities over 14 days is not too rush given that train transportation works great in Europe in general, including the train ride from Vienna to Prague. I do think your friends made some valid points that it%26#39;s good to take a break from the cities and perhaps go to a couple of day trips at the country side such as the Wachau Valley in Austria (Melk, Krems, and the Danube).
