Is there snow at the resorts?

Hi, I will be arriving in Salzburg tomorrow. Can anybody tell me if there is any snow please. Are the ski resorts open?

There is no snow in the city itself. I don%26#39;t know about the ski resorts.

Go to www.panoramablick.com You can view the webcams.

I think all resorts are open and all lifts, freezing today very windy and snow showers, checked webcams and its all white.

I just returned from some days in salzburg and Zillertal ( Tirol) on business. I took some hours to ski.

Conditions are not good in most places.

No snow at all in Salzburg city. A little snow can be seen in the mountains from the city but very little.

Do not believe what you see on the webcams- very little snow coverage may look white on camera but often is not skiable.

In addition , most cameras are at higher altitudes in the resorts. Lower areas of these places either lack snow completely or have very little.

I was in Flachau on Tuesday- they claim snow in town - The only snow I saw was in a few piles that were the result of snow plowing in parking lots. It was 7 grad in town and very foggy.

Trails back into town were in bad condition at lower altitudes. Small strip of skiable snow - you see some dirt.Skiing from the top to middle stations not too bad. A few cold nights and they could make it much better with snow cannons.

Warm temperatures continue - 11 grad at noon today near Salzburg after a night of high winds and some rain.

Obertauern had best snow conditions - still warm , a little snow in town. All lifts I saw in operation- only a few trails not open- skiing good.

I talked with some people from Zell who said it was bad there they were in Obertauern for that reason- But this is 2nd hand info.

Tuesday very foggy in the valley Schladming area- as you drove up to Obertauern this clears and it was sunny and warm.

If you do ski I would suggest early mornings when conditions should be best.

Hope this finds you in time.
