Cheap Pension

My wife and I are looking for an inexpensive pension for 3 nights during late June/early July. We are considering Pension Kraml (about 70 euros for a double with bathroom en suite) and Schweizer Pension (about 90 euros for a double with bathroom en suite). Pension Kraml is further from the center of the city than Schweizer. Is that worth an extra 20 euros. Any other comments re: quality/quietness? Are there other options we should be considering? (Pension Suzanne is a little more expensive than Schweizer Pension... is it worth it?) (Pension Pertschy seems a bit out of our price range).

Thanks for the help!

I assume that you have already read the reviews regarding the pensions you mentioned-

The Kraml is not far from the city center and major tourist sites by public transport Subway- U-bahn or bus not too far away. But the others you mention may be more convenient.

The Schweizer is in the First district - but is a 10-15 minute walk to major tourist places. Bus 2A and 3A not far away making it more convenient.

The Suzanne is the best located very near to The State Opera , shopping, restaurants, tourist aras - an easy walk- and public transport. nearby too.A little more cost than schweizer but to me worth it for added convenience.

You pay a little more for this convenience- only you can decide what is best for you.

The Kraml location is not bad and if you use buses/trams you should be able to get around ok - but it will add quite a bit of travelling time for a short visit. I don%26#39;t know the Schweizer by experience, though the area is fine. Have you tried Pension Christina? They are part of Pertschy but they are the %26quot;economy%26quot; branch. The location is a bit more convenient than Schweizer and I think the price is similar. I thought Christina were closing for renovations this year but that has been put off until the autumn so they are still open at present. I%26#39;m staying there in March - it%26#39;s one of my favourite Vienna pensions as the location (Schwedenplatz) is near everything I need with very good transport links for trips further afield.

Another budget pension is Pension City which is incredibly central - just round the corner from Stefansdom - with clean, well-equipped rooms - but in some of the rooms the plumbing can be a bit temperamental. But it%26#39;s a bargain for the location - see http://www.citypension.at/en/index.html
