I am planning to spend 4 nights in Salzburg in February and wandered if anyone could help me with hotel recommendations. I am travelling with my mother who would like to stay in the old town so that we are centrally based and do not have too far to walk to main sights. Would Hotel Kasererbrau be a good base? Any other 4star recommendations? Thanks!

Kasererbrau is in the old town, and looks most luxurious. It is a little bit out of the way, but in a nice part of town. The centre of Salzburg is so tiny you can stroll across it in about 5 mins, in any case. It%26#39;s worth going for a central base during a winter trip, I think, as it can be a bit of a trial walking in heavy snow/wind!
Other old-town possibilities include the Hotel Elefant or the Goldene Ente, both of which are very central and have pleasant restaurants, and I think they are both four star. Hotel Wolf on the Kaigasse is also 4 star, I believe, though I don%26#39;t know that one so well.
Hope that helps

Thanks for your help. I%26#39;ll look into the other hotels.
I%26#39;ve just posted another question about train tickets, don%26#39;t know if you could help with that as well?
