HI
I am travelling from Dublin to Salzburg for a skiing holiday(party of 6) in january 2007 to Zell am see. we are all first timers both skiing and austria. basically has anyone stayed in the Apartment Unterberger? Is food and drink pricy. what are the best bars to go to for apres ski, would anyone recommend a day trip...so many questions. You see i am team leader on this and am very nervous about the outcome!

My son worked in Zell for 4 months, really nice resort. A Large Beer is about Euro 3 / large glass of wine about Euro 3.5 I think that the unterberger is in Zellermoos close to Shuttdorf near the Areitbahn ski lift - have alook at the website www.sbg.at/haus-unterberger
If you are closer to Shuttdorf a great apres ski Bar is Sunrise, and a great place to go is the Dorfschenke. In Zell am See centre, Resi Bar, B17 (usually later in the evening) Lupos Bar, Greens and Craisy Daisy very popular. The Karamba Bar (near the tennis courts) also very popular in the evenings as well as Diele night club There are plenty of ski buses from Zell to Shuttdorf and the Glacier
Very good restaurants in Zell called Eihen Kehr, and the Kumpferkessel ( sorry about spelling)

Hello,
You will love Zell its a lovely place and its reasonably priced. (it will be very cold though so take warm clothes!)
I have never skiied there before (we too are heading over in January 2007) but i have been there is in the summer and its great.
All of the restaurants are attached to hotels so there is lots of choice. We are staying at the Hotel Salzburgerhof and they have a great restaurant where non guests can eat too!
Enjoy your holiday and dont get to stressed.

Sorry that I%26#39;m not in a position to help you on Zell but I%26#39;d really appreciate any feedback you might have on your time there upon your return. We%26#39;re travelling there in Feb and like yourself, we are first timers and while we have young kids with us, any feedback you can give would be greatly appreciated. We%26#39;re staying in the hotel Berner in case you see it on your travels.

Have you booked into ski school? If so you wont have too much spare time. Ski bus is easy free transport,Kaprun and the Glacier are good for a day out only 30 minutes away.
