Advice plse for expecting mother in Salzburg for christmas

Could anyone give advice on the following: We are visiting Salzburg for 5 days from Dec 23. We are staying at NH Salzburg and are having our last holiday before the baby is born as I can%26#39;t fly too far as I am 6 months pregnant, we thought Salzburg would be a wonderful place to visit. I would like to know if there are restaurants still available that I could book for Christmas eve and Christmas day that are really good, would anyone recommend certain day trips that will not be too long or (I know this sounds odd) but too cold, I think the Ice Caves will be too cold but would the Sleigh rides be ok, are they at really high altitude for example, the description of the trip said %26#39;8 hours%26#39; but I am assuming that this includes travel and time to have lunch etc - Are there any other villages at not too high altitude and easy to get to for sightseeing and lunch.

Any recommendations for day trips even a spa visit for a treat and a warm swim would be lovely - any advice is welcome- Best regards

Have you asked the hotel for help for dinner reservations? It%26#39;s my understand from other posters that Christmas Eve is very hard to get reservations for. We made our Christmas Day reservations a couple of months ago so I guess I%26#39;m not much help there either. At this late day I would ask the hotel for help.

There are several tour companys that offer morning and afternoon tours. Panorama is a large bus and seems to be quite popular. Bob%26#39;s tours are vans that hold either 8 or 12 so that might be more to your liking.

Hi there,

We have just returned from Salzburg and it was wonderful. The hotel you are staying at is excellent and you may find they are the best people to speak to with regards to restaurant reservations, if you drop them an email, they will probably reply quickly.

As for excursions, the ice caves will not be open, they do not open till end of April, also avoid the Salt mines excursion as you enter the mines on a big slide...not very good for expectant mums. In the city itself, you could do the Sound of Music tour and one that we missed but would have liked to have done, was the Silent night Chapel which is only about 30 minutes away. There are lots of horse and carraige rides around the city, im not sure how far you would have to travel for sleigh rides...it is unusually warm in salzburg and i think snow is only just starting on higher ground.

Take your trainers for walking around and if you go up to the fortress, dont attempt to walk it, it is very steep, you can go up on the cable car. Hope this helps, have a lovely time.

Thank you for your help, It%26#39;s a great relief to know that the hotel is excellent, that has made me look forward to the trip even more. The advice about the salt mines was great - so i will avoid like the plague and will do the silent night tour and book sleigh rides through one of the tours like Bobs or Panorama today.

Once again thanks for helping.

Best regards
