Stumm Ziller Valley Austria

Hello,

I am looking for any info on the Ziller Valley. I have done plenty of research but would love any more info. My fiance and I are going in Jan 07 and staying in Stumm. Our parents are coming as well and have never met each other being from America and South Africa. We have just decided to try and have a very small civil wedding while we are there.

We are snowboarders and plan on spending must of our time on the slopes (any suggestions on which slopes?) so we need to find stuff for our parents to do during the day. Also some good restraunts and bars.

Any suggestions on where to go for our wedding dinner as well.

Thanks

How did you find Stumm- it is just a small place- the town and the area around it is very nice.

Fugen- Hochfugen- hochzillertal best place for ski and snowboarding- choice of many lifts and many kilometers of snowmaking( important this year of little natural snow so far.)

Zillertal. Ski pass offers many opportunities.

This is a very scenic valley but assume that you have been there before.

Mayrhofen is the biggest town. At the end of the valley - the Hintertux glacier.

Best restaurant - Restaurant Alexander - Lamark Hotel -Hochfugen.

www.restaurant-alexander.at

ideal for a special dinner.

reservations usually a must.

Things for non skiers

Visit to Innsbruck-less than 1 hour by bus or train

A ride through the valley on the Zillertal Bahn- a steam train narrow gauge

Hintertux Glacier- a nice ride on the lifts- great views- only on a sunny day.

Zillertal Open Dairy- a cheese making exhibit -

Swarowski Chrystal World in Wattens- 20 minutes away- not my favorite place but thousands like it.

Shopping in the many small towns--wood cravings- loden clothing- wurst ,cheese.

Just sitting in the sun at a mountain hut

walking in the mountains or marked trail alng the river.

Try the Zillerteler Beer- brewed in Zell am Ziller for centuries- they drink so much of it in the Zillertal , I still think none of it leaves the valley.

Nightlife is everywhere.

Best Wishes!
