We are flying into Salzburg next May and after a few days there would like to travel to Vienna. What is the best method of travel - train or bus - in order to see the countryside? Is there a price difference in train tickets if booked ahead versus at the time of travel?
Thanks for your help.

There don%26#39;t exist any long distance busses... catch the train! Usually at least twice an hour! Take the faster ICE, OEC or EC trains... they are a bit faster than the ICs.

There%26#39;s no difference in fares! About 95% of passengers buy their ticket just before they go. It%26#39;s quite easy... you can buy it from the ticket windows, touchscreen ticket machines (multilingual) or for a little extra fee on the train from the conductor.
Mind that you can only pay cash if you buy the ticket on the train!
There is a small discount, which will be granted without asking on each passenger, two or more...

Thanks Robbi - most helpful. One less thing to plan!
