no snow for xmas....

Is anyone else as disapointed as I am? I surprised my wife this xmas, our first time away and we wanted to go to where to snow is. It looks like there%26#39;s no flippin snow there, just typical...I should have booked for Iceland...

Although there was no snow in the city there was plenty of snow on the mountains for us to look at. Are you going to Salzburg itself or nearby?

Hi, we are staying in Salzburg city itself, we%26#39;ll a few KM outside. The whole idea was to go to the snow. We are taking the bus to Flachau which I believe had some snow and they are using the machines to preserve it etc. Imagine they had a record fall this time last year. I%26#39;m gutted.....there was some light on the horizon early this week but that doesn%26#39;t seem to have come true. All the reports I can see don%26#39;t forecast any snow.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll still have a magical time there. We too were hoping for snow. The first time we went to the Christmas markets it was thick fog and we couldn%26#39;t even see the mountains. The fog gradually cleared and it was freezing cold, but no snow. Last year, when they had snow for over 100 days, we couldn%26#39;t afford to go. Bizarrely we had snow when we went to Salzburg last May!!!!! We were caught in a blizzard near the Dachstein mountains and on 2nd June we had a snowball fight. So we were pretty certain we%26#39;d see snow in December this time. Alas, no. But we still had a great time and the snowy mountain tops were lovely.

Thanks Liz, I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll have a great time. It%26#39;s a great city and hopefully we%26#39;ll get the effect up in the mountains. You never no what a day or two can hold.

I am in exactly the same situation as yours. My partner and I are looking forward to a white Christmas this year but as you said %26quot;we should have gone to Iceland instead%26quot;. In the last few days, he kept asking me why are we going to Salzburg if there is not going be snow.....might as well go to somewhere warmer : (

I was there a few days ago and there was some snow in the mountains and also it was very very cold, so you got the same effect so to speak ;-)
