Season%26#39;s greetings to everyone!
We will be spending Xmas in Vienna and made reservations at the following restaurants:
1) SAcher Hotel ( we asked for Anna, but they said they would place us in any banketing rooms, as they are pretty booked);
2) Morwald im Ambassador%26#39;
3) Do%26amp;Co Stephanplatz;
It%26#39;s for 4 people ( a local couple and us, 1st timers in Vienna) and we wanted it to be %26quot;a real Viennese%26quot; experience, something romantic and in the spirit of the season and the city. Which one of the above restaurants you%26#39;d recommend and if they are all equally nice, which one is the least expensive without compromising the quality?
We will be staying just 3 days in Vienna so wanted to get the most out of these 3 days ( DEc. 24-27). Oh, and do you know if any clubs/bars will be open on Dec. 25?
Thanks so much for your suggestions,
Best wishes,
Madinochka

Many places will be open on the 25th.
It is the 24th when many close.
Your restaurant question is a little hard to answer.
Do %26amp; Co. has excelent food, great views but is not %26quot; Old Vienna %26quot; in decor- modern.
Morwald- I am not a Morwald fan . Toni Morwald grew his restaurant business too quickly- quality varies. He recently loses a star chef at one of his other restaurants. No, Toni Morwald ,is not in the Kitchen cooking every day. Atmosphere is OK - but no food guarantee
Sacher- more %26quot; Old Vienna %26quot; but they have several rooms for dining- during this time full of tourists. Quality is usually good.
For atmosphere I would vote for Sacher- for food and view My vote is Do%26amp; Co
I think their website is
www.do-co.at
for more info and menu. Perhaps this wll assist in your decision.

Sorry Do%26amp;Co website is

Thank you, Vertical. I also spoke with my friends who know Vienna and they completely dismissed Morwald ( they said %26quot;it;s too expensive for nothing%26quot;) and Sacher Hotel, for some reason. OUt of 3 choices they agreed with you that Do %26amp; Co is the best one, but yes, it%26#39;s international .
They also suggested a restaurant in Mariott Hotel, I didn%26#39;t retain the name, is a better choice. Do you know anything abt this restaurant?
Is it any good?
Thanks again,
Madinochka

Re Marriott -
I have never eaten at the restaurant - I believe it is called the Parkring and serves breakfast, midday and evening- would think it is not that great. One learns about good food in Vienna, less quickly about no so good places.
Window tables would probably have a view of the Park across the street .
Are you certain your friends mentioned the marriott. ?
The Bristol and Grand Hotels would have much better restaurants.

like vertical I would choose BRISTOL for atmosphere , location and food.
