Hallo, I shall be visiting Vienna for 4 days and would like to know f I%26#39;d be better of buying a weekly travel card instead of the Venna Card?
Can you confirm the price of the weekly card and can I buy this from the airport.
Thanks

The Vienna Card is good for 72 hours and offers discounts for numerous entrance fees for sights and much more. A good thing if you make many museum and attraction visits.
The price was recently increased ,I think, to 18,50 euro.
A weekly card is good from Monday to Monday 12,50 euro- not a bargain if you come later in the week. No discounts on admissions.
An alternative, if 2 persons travel together, is the 8 day card for 24 euro.
You can validate it 2 times each day to allow 2 people to use it hus 4 days unlimited travel for 12 euro each. Best bargain for travel only- no discounts on admissions.
A single ride ticket is 1,50 euro 2 euro if you buy it on bus or strassenbahn
a 24 hour card is 5 euro.
Thus many choices.
The Vienna Tourist Office in the Arrivals Hall sells tickets.
turn left as you enter the arrivals hall from baggage claim area.
It is on the left side - an ATM machine is nearby too.
Tickets also available from Transport ticket offices, most local Tabaks( newspaper and cigarette stores) and automatic ticket machines.

Thanks for the reply,
I am planning to arrive on Thursday afternoon and will be leaving on Monday afternoon, we are not really interested in discounts in the museums etc so what then would be the best ticket we could buy to last us throughout our trip?

I don%26#39;t think you can get the weekly cards on the Thursday (the ones running from the previous Monday to 9am the following Monday so that washes that one out).
You could get the 8-day strip card and use that for 4 days (it would run out at the end of the day on Sunday for 2 people) and then each buy maybe a Vienna shoppers card for the Monday (valid 8am-8pm on a weekday, 4 euros - 1 euro cheaper than a 24h card). That%26#39;s probably the most economical option if there%26#39;s two of you - but it%26#39;s limiting in that you must go round joined at the hip - you can%26#39;t go in 2 different directions with only 1 person holding the card!
Travelling alone, I often get a 72hr card (12,50) which takes me from Thurs to the same time Sunday - and then I buy another 24hr card (5.00) which sees me through Monday.
Depending where you%26#39;re staying, you may not use the transport as much as you expect. I use mine most when I go out of an evening (usually traipsing to the Volksoper!) otherwise if I stay in the first district I walk most everywhere. So maybe you could buy the 8-day strip card and find that one day you won%26#39;t need it anyway.
Remember anything you don%26#39;t use (eg. some days on your 8-day strip card) will still be valid for your next trip to Vienna :) I always keep a strip ticket with four single rides (6 euros) to bring back with me for unexpected need (useful for paying the extra zone fare needed for the journey from the airport)
rol, repeat customer!
