Train travel rules

Hi all,

I%26#39;ve just read this on another travel site:

%26quot;When you take a trip over 101km you can break your journey at various stations en route taking up to two months to complete the trip, however shorter trips must be completed on the same day.%26quot;

I had a look at train schedules on the OBB site for Innsbruck to Vienna and one returned itinerary was Innsbruck-Rosenheim-Salzburg-Vienna. Does this mean I can buy the Innsbruck to Vienna ticket and stop in all these places?!

Cheers!

Yes (see my othe reply)

The short answer is: Yes, but NOT in Rosenheim! You%26#39;d have to buy two tickets... one Innsbruck-Rosenheim and one Rosenheim-Vienna.

The reason is, that Rosenheim is outside of Austria... and long-distance trains Innsbruck-Salzburg don%26#39;t stop there. (So you pay another fare).

But: it should be possible to buy a one-way ticket Innsbruck-Vienna with stop in Rosenheim! This will be a little bit more expensive... and can only be bought from the ticket counter (not at ticket machines). Don%26#39;t forget to state, that you will stop in Rosenheim! (in German: %26quot;Fahrtunterbrechung in Rosenheim%26quot;). Generally, you can buy your tickets just before you go!
