We flew into Salzburg on a Thomsonfly flight from Bournemouth on the 3rd December and stayed for 4 nights.
Our flight was hassle free and arrived early and it was amazing how quickly we cleared the airport. From landing to getting in a taxi wasn%26#39;t much more than about 15 minutes.
We had booked a room at the Hotel Weisses Kreuz and were there well ahead of schedule with the taxi costing 15 euros on the meter.
The Weisses Kreuz is a small 8 room hotel/restaurant and we chose it for its location which was within walking distance of all the Christmas markets and main shopping areas. The hotel room itself was large, warm and quiet and the bathroom very modern and was just what we required for our 4 night stay. The buffet breakfast was adequate and everything seemed very fresh.
This was our first time to Salzburg and we enjoyed it very much and found the Christmas markets easy to find with plenty of variety.
All the people we came across were very friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. I hope Salzburg will soon be getting the snow to keep the skiers happy as when we were there it was very unseasonable with reasonably warm sunny days which suited us.
Thanks Salzburg Regards Dave

Glad to hear you had a good trip! Did you eat at the Weisses Kreuz, and if so how was the food when you were there? I was disappointed with it in August but have had good meals there in the past so I hope it picked up! It does sound like they have revamped the rooms - when I stayed there winter before last the bathroom was dominated by the avocado suite!

We%26#39;ve just returned too. This year we went to the Hellbrunn Christmas market and were very impressed. The city was beautifully decorated as always, especially Stiftskeller St Peter where the courtyard, cut out of the rock, was filled with Christmas trees and white lights. The gluhwein was flowing well and there was a great atmosphere in there. As usual the little alleyways connecting the streets and squares entered into the spirit of the markets and we found them every bit as pretty and well-stocked with gifts. The market up on the Fortress was closed when we went up so I don%26#39;t quite know what was going on there.
A restaurant that we tried this time was Da Pippo at the bottom of Alter Markt. It%26#39;s a lovely (non-smoking) Italian restaurant. We had two excellent pizzas which were only about 10 Euros each. The service was swift and friendly.

Hi Roley,
The bathroom had been updated and was very modern and we had no complaints at all with our room.
We did eat at the hotel on our first night and I had the Balkan platter and it seemed fine but not sure how it would compare to similar Balkan meals elsewhere. We did have a couple of meals at the Zipfer Bierhaus and found the service and food very good.
We enjoyed our Salzburg trip and found the locals very helpful and polite.
Regards Dave
