I am looking to book a 3 day trip in Dec 2007 for my family includes 2 children (7 %26amp; 5 years old).
We are wanting to visit xmas markets an get a traditional feel for xmas so not too commercilised and tacky and need a city break where we can walk everywhere but be close to hotel if we need to go back during the daytime with children.
Which one would you recommend ?
Thanks

Definitely Salzburg. It%26#39;s pocket-sized and easy walking, and the markets are small but very traditional, in a fairy-tale setting. The kids will adore the other sights in the town like the huge, romantic fortress, every kid%26#39;s dream of a fairytale castle; you won%26#39;t be able to prise them away! You%26#39;re more likely to have snow in Salzburg than Vienna too (despite the warm weather in both this year). With the compact size, you can see everything without rushing in three days so it%26#39;s the perfect place for a weekend break.
I love Vienna to bits but its attractions are chiefly cerebral - music, art, culture - whereas Salzburg appeals to the kid in all of us.
