Vienna-Time from train station to airport??

Two friends and I are beginning to plan our trip to Europe!!

I would like to find out how long it will take us to get from the train station in Vienna to the airport on a weekday morning. We will be returning to Vienna via train from Salzburg and catching a flight to Rome. If a train arrives at 9:40am, would it be possible to catch a flight that leaves at 11:25 to Rome?

You will arrive in Vienna at the Westbahnhof. The airport transfer bus runs every 30 minutes. ( 9:30 10:00 ) travel time is about 30- 35 minutes in normal traffic- cost 6 euro - payable to driver.

You should have enough time to catch the 10:00 bus. They are found directly in front of the station

Thus you would not arrive at the airport until 10:30 + . very little time to check-in. You could make it if everything functions correctly.

I would check with your airline on latest check- in time. The airport is relatively small with minimal walking to gate but security lines are sometimes slow.

Probably best to take an eariler train.

A taxi could make the transfer a little quicker - much more expensive and may not be able to take 3 people plus all luggage

Thanks for the information. After checking on the train schedule, I was under the impression that the earliest weekday train out of Salzburg left at 7:00 and arrived in Vienna at 9:40. Does anyone know if this is true?

Also, if we took a taxi in Vienna from the train station to the airport, would we have enough time to make this 11:25 flight?

We would really love to be on this flight, but I am worried that we won%26#39;t have enough time to make it.

Any thought?

I have no idea what schedule you checked but a number of trains earlier than 7:00 departure.

One at 6:00 arrives in Vienna at 8:40- bus at 9 has you at airport by 9:30 - time to check in and catch plane easily.

I think the best would be to catch the 6:00 (OEC 541) to Wien Westbahnhof (arrival: 8:40). The bus to the airport (ticket from the driver) starts at 9:00 in front of the station. Travel time from Westbahnhof to the Airport is 35 mins.

Rail tickets are usually just bought before you go... there are ticket windows and ticket machines (which operate also in English and accept all Credit Cards).

Do not take the U and CAT-version (you%26#39;d have to change to the underground and then to another train)... better take the Airport bus.

Yuck, I can%26#39;t imagine catching a train at 2:15 in the morning!

I think we will plan to catch the 6:00 train which solves our problem. Many thanks!
