thermal baths in Wien

Does anybody know anything about %26quot;thermalba oberlaa%26quot;?

Where is it located? Any idea how much it costs? Is it worth the money? Etc.

|||

The Kurzentrum Oberlaa is located in the southern part of Vienna. from the city center - take the U- Bahn ( subway ) line U-1 to the end station Reumannplatz .

From Reumannplatz take the street car #67 in the direction Oberlaa perhaps 35 minutes from city center

24 hour card for public transport is 5 euro.

Kurzentrum Oberlaa is the last station with the entrance to the facility immediately in front of the streetcar stop.

Many people of Vienna go here for the bad and also therapy , massages etc. You will see a large number of elderly people using the facilities.

The Thermalbad is just one of many services here.

Is it worth the money ?- only you can decide your wishes.

Usually not many tourists

3 hours in thermalbad is 10,50 euro - a 25 minute massage about 21 euro.

their website - german only

www.oberlaa.at

photos may help show the facilities

click on bildergalerie .

A nice and interesting alternative is an updated facility in Baden not far by train or Badenerbahn ( station across the street from the State Opera.)

look to their website- in english too. for information

Danke schoen,

Very good info,

Thanks.

If you%26#39;re looking for a real good experience, you should leave Vienna for the SPA hotels. I have been to Laa/Thaya and Bad Blumau (designed by Hundertwasser). Bad Blumau can be reached within two hours by car.

Kurzentrum Oberlaa is partly old, the sauna and steam bath area is not very inviting although usable.

Thanks. From the center of town (say the Radisson SAS) to this spa, how long would it take by taxi to get there? Any idea of cost?

|||

Both SPA hotels can be reached by train.

Train schedule:

Wien-Mitte %26gt; Laa/Thaya

Duration: 1h 26min

No transfer required

A short walk is needed. Turn right upon leaving the

station building, walk along the street until you see

the sign %26quot;THERME LAA%26quot;. Follow the signs....

------------------------------------------------------

Railway Station South %26gt; Bad Blumau

Duration: 2h 33min

No transfer required

Important information: Trains don%26#39;t run that often, so

get at least the one at 08:26 to!

Train station is very close to the premises, you can see the hotel

on your right hand side (when sitting in the train).

Sorry, I meant from St. Stephanplatz to thermalba oberlaa, either by public transport or taxi.

I don%26#39;t have much time and have to stay in the city.

Thanks for your help.

|||

Metro line U1 to Reumannplatz, then tram #67 to final stop.

Taxi is expensive!

|||

Stephansplatz- Oberlaa by public transport( U-Bahn and streetcar) takes about 35 - 40 minutes . Single ticket costs 1,50 euro one way or a 24 hour card is 5 euro.

The taxi would probably take about 20 minutes depending on traffic- cost 15-20 euro one way . ( just a guess, as I have never gone with a taxi on this route.
