Hi. I currently have one single and one double room booked at the Wolf-Dietrich for mid-July. I understand it can get quite hot during the summer months and would like to know if there are any hotels within walking distance to most major attractions that have air. Also, how does the Wolf compare to the Sheraton from personal experience? Thank you so much.

I don%26#39;t have any experience of the Wolf Dietrich or the Sheraton but one hotel I have stayed in with air conditioning is the Hotel Elefant which is directly in the middle of the old town. I believe they charge a surcharge for using the air conditioning; I have no idea what the quality is like (I was there in deepest winter!) but it is a pleasant, well-equipped, quaint hotel and very close to everything.
Salzburg can be hot in the summer months but it%26#39;s quite variable - you might strike a boiling hot spell or just sunny and mild (or indeed chilly bucketing rain; it has the lot!) I was in the Salzkammergut in mid-July last year and the weather was perfect - sunny, warm, but not oppressive. I was in Salzburg in mid-August and it was cold and tossing rain. Difficult to predict, in other words!
In some ways I don%26#39;t see the point of air-cond in a place like Salzburg - unless you spend your whole life holed up in your hotel room you%26#39;re going to get hot anyway, and in the evenings, being in the mountains, it often cools down quite considerably so it%26#39;s not too uncomfortable to sleep. Plus the air is clean which helps. However, it must be said sleeping with your windows wide open can be noisy in the pavement-cafe-society. I would expect the area up around the Sheraton to be quieter at nights than the old town proper. However, of the two hotels you are considering I would prefer the Wolf Dietrich because of its age and history; I would expect it to have more character than yet-another-Sheraton.
I believe the Altstadt Radisson has air-cond too and would expect all the other big name hotels like Sacher, Bristol etc to offer it also - but if you%26#39;re after a mid-range place with air-cond I can%26#39;t think of any besides Elefant and the Sheraton.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply. I think I%26#39;ll just stay with the Wolf as it sounds like the weather can be unpredictable.
