Is there any other airlines beside Austria Air that covers this route? A listing I found on the Internet shows a one-way fare art over $300!

Hi George,
The thumb of rule for booking inter European continental flights for scheduled airlines is to book a return flight, rather than one way, even if you are not using the return / inbound leg.
Austrian and Lufthansa has euro 11 return air fare for their lowest booking class. However, the return airport taxes is around euro 80.
One of the rationales behind this fare structure (1 way fare higher than return) is that only people on business will buy one way fare. That%26#39;s also why minimum 2 night stay or Sat night come in.
Budget airlines thrive in Europe because such restriction is not an issue for booking these flights.
Airberlin.com and Adria-airways.com offer low one way fare between Frankfurt and Vienna.
Other budget airlines such as Ryanair.com cover similar routes at rock bottom price but they do not fly from international airports which means extra time for traveling from city to airport.

Here is another thing to be wary about. On a recent trip from the US via Heathrow to Vienna we booked our London/Vienna leg separately on Austrian because it was such a good deal. Unfortunately, because it wasn%26#39;t all part of the same trip, the weight restrictions on the luggage changed dramatically. I believe we were only allowed 20 KG for both of us combined. The upcharge for our luggage cost more than the original round-trip tickets!
Ask before you buy.
