Goldene Ente-how do I get there?

Hope someone can help me, i%26#39;m travelling with my grown up daughter on 28th January and staying at the Goldene Ente, will I be better travelling by bus or taxi from the airport?

This hotel is in a very central position in a tiny lane. It would be best to hop in a taxi as some people have found it difficult to locate the first time.

Arnie - it can be done by Bus if you feel confident enough with the public transport from the start and a short walk if you don%26#39;t have too much luggage.

Get the City Guide sent by post in advance from the Salzburg.info website as it has the Bus Routes and stops shown. You can also get the Bus timetables printed off from the Stadt Bus web site and help a great deal in giving each stop on the route.

You will need to change buses - my suggestion would be change at Aigilhof/LKH West. Take the No.2 from the Airport, get of at Aigilhof/LKH West, just after the bus has turned left at the traffic lights. On the opposite side of the road, slightly to the right, outside a restaurant is another stop. Cross over and catch the No4 going into town that way – you need to get off in the centre at the F Hanusch Platz stop, this is right next to the river, just before the bridge to the other side.

Get off the bus, walk slightly up hill towards the bridge then down the other side, passing the Rathaus bus stop. Take your next right into the pedestrian area which will be Kranzl Markt. This leads to a square called Alter Markt. Take a left and walk up Judenengasse and a few paces later take another right into Brodgasse, Goldgasse is then on the left. Your there !

I would suggest a slightly different bus route (just to be contrary!) I would take the bus 2 to the rail station and then change to the 3, 5 or 6 bus and get off at the police station just next to the big bridge after you cross the river. Then you just need to walk a little down the slope and up a short alley on your right, turn left, and and you%26#39;re very close to the Ente (I think it is just a little way along on your right).

Now I imagine you are thoroughly confused! But I think for your first time in Salzburg, it%26#39;s actually easier to change buses at the rail station than at an earlier stop - and that way you%26#39;ll end up much closer to the hotel than if you get off at Hanuschplatz.

Yep, perhaps the suggestion from Roley - he is the expert :-) to change at the Train Station is a little eaiser and when you start to cross the river you know you need to get off at the next stop he mentions (which in the route is referred to as %26quot;Rathaus%26quot;).
