Hi all,
My husband and I travelling to Vienna for 4 nights May 2007.Wonder can anyone recommend accom that%26#39;s not too expensive, hoping between 70 and 80 Euros /night. Don%26#39;t really need breakfast. Most posts seem to be for high end hotels. Heres hoping!!! Thanks.

I%26#39;ve had slightly mixed experiences there, but the Pension City is a real bargain if you are not the fussy type - it%26#39;s right in the centre, just round the corner from Stephansdom, and the twin/double prices are 79-89 euros/night.
Their website is

I%26#39;ve stayed there a few times and the rooms are spacious, clean and well-equipped - but in some the plumbing can be somewhat idiosyncratic (grindy loos with some problem with backflow). The staff are actually quite helpful about changing your room if you have a problem. For that price and the amazing location, it%26#39;s not bad.
Slightly more expensive but again a great location and everything in full working order would be Pension Nossek where I stay quite often. See

We have returned from a four day break in Vienna over the new year and stayed in the Hotel Deutschmeister, This is a cheap hotel and you can get prices now from £44 per night on Expedia.co.uk. Check it out, it has pictures of the hotel on there. The room we had was large, clean and warm, a good breakfast is served in this price with a selection of pastries, fruit, ham, cheese and a large jug of coffee, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. In fact you couldnt wish for better. It is over the road from the ubahn which takes you into the centre and is a very efficient service, you have to change normally onto another line, but it takes 10 mins approximately, or you can walk in about 20 minutes. Just down the road from the hotel, are a selection of restaurants and a very good italian where we went the first night and had a pizza which was prepared fresh by the chef to be cooked in a pizza oven. Very nice and cheap. I think if you stay in the hotels in the centre, you will pay high prices but with this one it is still easy to get into the centre at a very good price. You can buy a 72 hour ubahn ticket which allows you to travel backwards and forwards and into anywhere within the local area and saves you money.
