Number 2 bus route

Just come back from Salzburg on a first time visit.

Many posts had said that you get the No2 bus from the Airport to the main railway station and then either change buses or walk in my case 5mins up the road to the Stieglbrau Hotel.

We later discovered that the No2 leaves the railway station and travels up Rainerstrasse past the Stieglbrau. The second stop after the station is the Congress Centre which is also only 1 minute walk to the Sheraton Hotel.

Maybe the route has been changed because in the hotel literature it says you have to go to the railway station to get the bus to the airport.

The No 2 stops right outside the Stieglbrau Hotel for the journey back to the airport. It was well worth getting on before the station as the queue was huge.

Thanks very much for this Wiseowl! The no. 2 Bus route has been extended so it does indeed go along the Rainerstrasse after the rail station, stopping at the Kongresshaus (for the Sheraton, Stieglbrau etc). It then goes up the Paris Lodon strasse, stopping on the corner for Mirabellplatz and then carries on up the Rupertgasse, only a block from the Schallmooserhauptstr. for the Cordial Theater and other hotels in that area.

The timetable can be viewed here (PDF)

I wasn%26#39;t aware the route had been extended as I%26#39;ve not been in Salzburg since August - you learn something new every day! This will be very handy for people flying to Salzburg - but for hotels over the river in the old town, it%26#39;s still worth changing buses at the rail station, because the Mirabellplatz stop for the bus no. 2 is round the corner from the stops used by the buses that go into the town centre. People staying on the Linzergasse, though, could hop off at MIrabellplatz/Paris Lodon Strasse and walk along past the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (sp?) to reach the Linzergasse quite easily.

Yes, just before going last week I realised that the No.2 route (and some others) appear to have changed slightly and the #2 route certainly extended beyond the railway station.

We were stopping at the Cordial Theater and did originally plan to change to the #4 at somepoint but this is no longer necessary - you can stay on the #2 and get off at Bayerhamerstrasse stop which is then just a short walk (down Bayerhamerstrasse) to Schallmooser Hauptstr for the Cordial.

The latest route plan is available at:

I went on the number 2 bus once, it seems to go all around the houses I should take a packed lunch with you ! ! ! I now always take a taxi from the airport they are so cheap and so convenient airport to centre around 12 euros.
