The Perfect Hotel

would any of you lovely people out there kindly recommend a nice hotel in the centre of Saltzburg. Price range of £50 - £60 per twin room ( £25- £30 p.p.) with a decent cooked brekky

Also, is Saltzburg pricey or is it just a case of knowing where to go!

While i%26#39;m here am i right in saying that the Fortress can be accessed by a furnicular railway?

thanx in anticipation

I can%26#39;t recommend a hotel as we always stay in the suburbs, but someone else will probably help with that. Regarding the prices in Salzburg I have to say I don%26#39;t think they%26#39;re bad. If you have coffee in Tomaselli, a real tourist trap, then it will be dearer than in a smaller, less prominent cafe, but on the whole I think food and drink prices compare well to the UK. A nice cup of coffee will be just over three Euro (about £2.25). Here, in the Cotswolds last week we paid £2.50 for a mediocre hot chocolate. The big difference we find is that you get much better service in Salzburg and you can sit for hours without feeling hassled. We find the food prices very competitive too.

The Fortress is a must-see on your visit. The funicular only takes about thirty seconds to whizz you to the top. The Salzburg card (if you wanted to take advantage of it) entitles you to a free ride up there.
