Deano the prices that you will pay in Salzburg will be a lot cheaper than you are paying at home, I was very surprised when I was there over Christmas , find loads of good restaurants away from the rip off tourist areas and you will be very surprised, wine seems expensive but the beer is very very good and will be about same as UK, great city lovely people.

Hi Deano
Curatokid is right. If you stay away from the obvious touristy restaurants you will find the prices very competitive with the UK. Austrian food is served in most places, often the menus that are mostly in German will have the most local food. The Stieglbrau restaurant is huge, with lots of different rooms and amazing views over the city (it is tucked in just below the fortress). I%26#39;ve had some very interesting Austrian food there which was reasonably priced. Zum Mohren (entrances from both the Quay and from Judengasse) has a huge variety of food on the menu including Austrian. Most menus are displayed at the entrances to restaurants and hotels so you can suss out the prices and choices before you go in. I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll have any trouble finding what you want.

Hi Deano
I would endorse Zum Mohren - we visited twice in December and it was fantastic :-)
