skiing in alpbach

I am organising ski trip for 2 couples and 3 singles. at he end of February.thinking of staying in the furstenhof guest house in alpbach. has anyone been there? Also wondering are there any good bars or is the nightlife very quiet? anyone know if there is good snow in Feb. Very little info on web

I have just returned yesterday from Mellau in Bregenzerwald with my husband and 3 small children. We had a fantastic time staying at Kanisfluh Hotel and Apartments. The skiing was excellent for both us and the children but if you are couples and singles looking for good nights out I do not think this area would suit very much from what I could see traveling through the whole area. It looks like it is all pretty much suited to families and couples who want a quieter time. I like a champagne and party at the best of times and even on New Years Eve the area was very quiet except for the fantastic fireworks everyone all set off at midnight.

We had a good dump of snow while we were there and from what everyone told us, Feb is a good time for snow.

We traveled from Mellau back to Germany thru Warth and into the Tyrol area and it all looks very similar. Considering that Alpbach and Mellau are 2 hours apart the places could be very different. Have you thought about contacting some of the hotels in Alpbach to find out what type of guests are staying during the time you have booked, that may give you some idea

A website I used prior to our trip (apart from this one!!!) was tiscover.au where I kept an eye on the snow and weather reports with fingers crossed!!

I do not know the guest house- but Alpbach is a very nice place-

many say the most beautiful village in Austria.

Usually some good skiing - about 20 lifts nearby.

Strange year for snow- who knows what February brings.

For much information on the village, skiing , snow reports hotels, transfers etc.
