Summer Holidays in Slazburg

I intend visiting Salzburg area at the end of July with two children ages 14 and 11, should I stay in one of the outlying areas like Fluc am See as we enjoy swimming cycling etc. All suggestions welcome.

It rather depends how long you%26#39;re going to be there for. If you stayed in the Salzkammergut area, somewhere like Fuschl am See or St Gilgen you have all the cycle tracks and the lakes and mountains on your doorstep. It%26#39;s only about thirty minutes into Salzburg by bus so that could be a good compromise. If you%26#39;re only there for a few days, however, and want to see much of the city, then it would be a bit of a trek in each day. You can hire bicycles and go all over the city on them, and out into the countryside, to Hellbrunn and beyond. Tours could be taken from the city too such as Eisriesenwelt, the magnificent ice caves, and the Salt Mines tours.
