Thanks Roley

We will be child free so you%26#39;re right could be bonus!!! Checked Rick Steves site as you suggested, people can be strange!!! Will attempt to investigate further re B%26amp;B as suits our budget and have found from previous trips to Italy and France they are often a good way to get a feel for a city/ town/ village.Thanks so much for your help. Hope you don%26#39;t mind if I pester you with more questions in future.

I guess you are not aware of the %26quot;reply to this post%26quot; button which is next to %26quot;post a new topic%26quot; one. Anyway, it will be easier for you to read back if your post is all in one thread for Salzburg, unless it is an entirely different topic.





While I understand you prefer to stay out of the tourist hotel area, proximity to city center can be a good thing if you are staying a bit longer than a couple of days as you may be sick of taking buses everyday.





One of the areas to avoid in Salzburg is hotels near train station. They are not particularly attractive areas to stay for dinning and shopping. But of course what%26#39;s undesirable area in Salzburg is hardly a bad area else where in the world.
