Weird question in know, but i%26#39;m planning on doing the Salzburg to munich train trip, on the local train. Do these trains have toilets ( i%26#39;ve got elderly parents with me! )
Does anyone know what time the last trains leave Munich to return to Salzburg?
Many Thanks

Yes, the trains in Europe have bathrooms on them. Most even have toilet paper too.
Check the schedule on the Eurail website, just google Eurail and you can check the schedule, in English, believe it or not.

Do NOT, ever, check the schedules on the %26quot;Eurail%26quot; site. They are not listing all trains, do not mention any changes in schedules and so on. The only reliable informations on train travel come from the railway sites themselves, not from a travel agency like Eurail. You can find the website of the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) at www.bahn.de and that of the Austrian Federal Railways at www.oebb.at

Thank you both for the advise

Altamiro,
Eurail is a start and has links to other sites, some of which are not in English, so not much help to the person who does not speak German or Frances. Entendeu?

Thanks. Can the regional rail tickets from salzburg to Munich be booked on line and posted out to me?

So what is the problem with clicking a british flag or an %26quot;International guests%26quot; link and getting the same info in english?

You cannot %26quot;book%26quot; a ticket for a regional train the way you do with a plane. You can buy a ticket online at www.bahn.de - it comes in PDF format, so you print it out and take it with you. It is valid for all regional trains on this route within a certain time (2 d I think) However if you use regional trains it is better to get a Bavaria Ticket - it is cheaper.
There is however absolutely no need to buy any kind of ticket in advance. There is no advantage in it (except saving 5 min at the station maybe)

In my experience, the self-print ticket facility is not available for the cross-border journey Munich-Salzburg. You can order tickets online from www.bahn.de to be delivered by post (which requires about 10 working days I think) or there is also a UK office of Deutschebahn you can order tix by phone and they deliver them first class post, hopefully next day (I%26#39;ve used that and it%26#39;s a good service). It will probably cost you a little more but if your German is shakey or you envisage being in a hurry/flap at the station, it can be convenient to pre-book.
Rol, belt-and-suspenders type

You may need information about boarding the train. Some Austrian stations have very low platforms, Linz for example.
I think that Salzburg has a height more like the English ones, and Munich probably has (I%26#39;ve never been there).
I have seen young people struggling to gain access to trains with their baggage, although there is probably a special coach with more steps as you get on the US Amtrak trains.
You should be able to check using
eMail: mobilitaetsservice@pv.oebb.at
according to the oebb.at website. I am sure that a request for information will be met with courtesy and assistance.
The toilets were fine (I always check !).
