Vienna for an exchange student

Hi,

I%26#39;m seriously looking at attending Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration for a term (Feb-June) next year. I%26#39;m currently an MBA student in Canada.

I%26#39;ve been all over the US and down to tourist destinations in Mexico a few times but other than that I%26#39;m not too well traveled. I%26#39;m just looking for any general thoughts or advice...trying to decide where to do an exchange can be difficult!

Would Vienna be a good place to spend five months? I%26#39;m sorry to be vague...but maybe somebody out there has a similar experience? It seems like a good choice as Vienna itself has much to offer. An added bonus seems to be its proximity to other European cities...

Thanks for any input you might have!

Vienna University School of Business and Economics has a good reputation.

Vienna is also a very good city for an initial experience of Europe. It is very safe with excelent and inexpensive public transport. It has many sightseeing chances in the city and surrounding areas. Being centrally located , it provides many easy travel opportunities

Many opportunities by train

Salzburg - 2 hours 40 minutes

Bratislava - 1 hour

Budapest - 2 1/2 hours

Prague and Munich about 4 1/2 hours

Does your university have a form of exchange program?

Do you speak some german?

I would first investigate the language issue- as most couses should be in German-

I believe most classes will be in buildings near to the Franz Josef Bahnhof in the 9th District with easy access by public transport-

I think that the educational and cultural opportunities would be most enjoyable and also look good on a CV in the future.

I know of one person who came from Germany to study in this school- Liked Vienna so much that they found an excelent position with a large international consulting firm here.

vertical,

Thanks for the quick reply.

My school does have a formal affiliation with the University I%26#39;ve mentioned.

I don%26#39;t speak any German but apparently there are a wide range of MBA courses that are offered in English. Of course, I am willing to learn some basic German to enrich my experience!
