Hi everyone, I was hoping we might get some suggestions/help on sites we must see in Vienna. We are planning on going during december this year.
Our interests include food, monuments/buildings, sweets, christmas etc. I%26#39;ve been looking through some books and the forums but we just wanted to see if there were any must see attractions or stores we should check out.
This will be our first time in Austria/Vienna so we are really excited and any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

If you have not already reviewed the Vienna Tourist website
www.info.wien.at
This will provide much good information on most every subject for the tourist.
Be certain to spend some hours in the Vienna cafes- not just good food and fantastic pastry, but in many instances good architecture.
An example Cafe Central on Herrengasse -not far from the Hofburg Palace.
Note the statue ( sitting at a table) of one of the former regular guests there. So regular that his mail was delivered there.
Then walk through the arcade just next to the cafe- Palace Ferstel- above- the former Vienna Stock Exchange. In the arcade a good shop for chocolates.
Visit the many Christmas Markets. While some do not like the one in front of the Rathaus- still nice to look early in the evening.
Schönbrunn Palace and Christmas Market a Must.- Those at Freyung, AmHof also good.
Sample some punsch- one is enough to keep you warm for some period.
At the Hofburg Palace , visit the Treasury- many tourists miss this -a fantastic collection of crowns, Imperial regalia.

Vertical, we can%26#39;t thank you enough for the help and advice. I checked out the cafe and palace and other places you mentioned to see there and they look beautiful (which does not suprise me of Vienna). I%26#39;ll check out the website you posted there as I%26#39;m sure it will help even more.
Thank you again for taking the time to help us out with it!
