Winter Activity taster

Hello, I am coming to Salzburg for a few days in a couple of weeks with 10 friends and we would really like an activity for Saturday. We are of varying skiing abilities and therefore to ensure an even playing field we would like to try something that we can all do.

I have looked at the winter activities listed via the Salzburg Tourist Office website and tobogganing seems to be the most appropriate. Can anyone advise on the best tobogganing areas for beginners that are easily accessed from Salzburg on public transport?

We don’t want to stray too far from Salzburg due to our time constraints (i.e would like to be back late afternoon) and also expense.

Are the toboggan areas affected by the lack of snow?

Many thanks for your help.

If you%26#39;re really adventurous there is paragliding on the Gaisberg, the smaller mountain that overlooks the city from the west. Here%26#39;s a link.

Thanks LizR.

That looks like fun but I think may be out of our price range for this trip.

This may seem a silly question but to ride the toboggans do you require the full winter gear as you would for skiing or can you get away with just warm clothing?

Can anyone recommend tobogganing?

Its like sledging in the UK you need to wrap up warm and you may get wet if you fall of or if snow shoots up your leg or sprays up around your groin area

enjoy the day
